LiveWell Lawrence

LiveWell Lawrence is a Douglas County Community Foundation initiative that is focused on improving everyday environments to make it easier for people to get more physically active and eat more nutritious foods.

The basic premise of the initiative is that where we live, work, learn and play—our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools and community—is one of the most important factors determining whether or not we stay fit and healthy.

LiveWell Lawrence connects businesses, organizations, schools, governments and funders working to create long-term healthy change.  Our coalition is pursuing a Community Plan comprised of four broad strategies that are based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations.

Our coalition is also developing a Partner Program that will enable businesses, organizations, schools, churches and other groups to declare their support for the aims of LiveWell Lawrence.

LiveWell Lawrence is being launched with seed money from the Kansas Health Foundation. A steering committee of local professional, nonprofit, business and school leaders is directing start-up activities.

Watch the “News” section of the Foundation’s homepage for information about LiveWell’s activities and how you can become involved.
